Not limited to blazing just one trail, Jo Hanson tackled environmental issues and championed the inclusion of under-represented women and artists of color in San Francisco city exhibitions. She’s seen in the photo (left) sweeping the walk in front of her Buchanan Street Victorian, which she restored. After the house, she took on the litter on her walk and then in the City.
Jo Hanson received numerous awards during her lifetime including an National Endowment for the Arts, had multiple academic degrees and lots of friends and a family.
