As we head towards the last weeks of summer, some of us may have to think about the start of school. If you’re like me and have been done with higher education for years, it’s time to consider going to back school too. In 2017, it’s increasingly important to keep your education current even if your profession doesn’t have ongoing licensing requirements. Continuing Education (CE) or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) encapsulates the learning activities that all working adults engage in to develop and enhance their abilities. What abilities would you like to improve?
Every profession is filled with courses for certification, skills updates and even annual conferences with classes. We can use CE/CPD to gain a competitive advantage in our businesses, to offer additional services and support, to become a more proficient networker. Think of an area where you’d like to gain working knowledge, confidence or more technical skills, find your class and go enroll.
This month’s presentation by our Vice President Dannielle Vogl is on the value continuing education throughout one’s career. She’s passionate about this topic, so prepare to be engaged.
And as for lunch, we’re continuing our experiment of a more compact one-hour meeting format at Delancey Street Restaurant. There’s networking from 12:00 until 12:30, the meeting start promptly at 12:30 pm, and we end at 1:30. Optional networking time is included after the meetin as well. If you have any feedback or suggestions on additional improvements to the format of our meetings, the board would love to hear from you.
