In January of this year the board of PWN surveyed its membership to get feedback on how we operate things. We received lots of good information and heard two common themes. First, many women find it hard to attend meetings due to the length of the meetings. We also heard that many like the location of Delancey Street, but are tired of the same menu choices.
Beginning in July our meetings will last for one hour. The official start time will be 12:30 and end at 1:30 pm. There will be a half hour of optional networking and socializing before the meeting starting at noon. We hope that by having the one hour time commitment it will be easier for more people to attend.
For the last several months we’ve been searching for an alternative location to Delancey Street, We’ve been unable to find a space that’s located centrally with parking, near transit, has a private room, and offers meals around $30-35 per person. We’ve looked at restaurants as well as renting a space with a catered lunch. Every option we found would be considerably more expensive.
At this time the Board has decided to keep our location at Delancey Street. We’re working with Delancy’s to mix up the menu a little bit; you may have noticed a new lunch option at the last few meetings. If you know of any conference rooms large enough to hold our group, please let us know right away, we may still change the location if something suitable in our price range becomes available.
