Join our members and other guests at the Delancey Street Restaurant for networking, business insights and lunch on the first Friday of November 2016. Our Lunch & Learn brings together a healthy mix of members and guests, so you’ll always meet someone interesting! Come prepared with your business introduction and business cards.
Gloria Namkung, PWN member and licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), will talk about ways to handle feelings of anger that may arise in our business and personal interactions. She’ll touch on the costs and benefits of suppressing, venting, and effectively managing anger by challenging and even changing your thinking.
At this luncheon, Gloria will share examples from her practice of common maladaptive behavioral patterns of highly successful individuals. The good news is that there ARE ways to forgive others and oneself.
Gloria has over two decades of forensic psychology experience coordinating and providing treatment with the SF Department of Public Health. In her private practice, she specializes in treating clients whose lives are impacted by their own or by others’ anger.
Gloria often uses a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach in her practice to examine how one’s anger style and pattern of behavior can reinforce cognitive distortions and a rigid belief system. One’s negative thinking may have had its origin in the unique circumstances of one’s upbringing or from traumatic life events or from others’ influence. She assists clients with understanding and compassion in exploring these factors, evaluating the costs and “benefits” of holding onto such ineffective belief systems.
